743. Royal Mail Queen's Birthday Stamps Designs Revealed By E Bay Dealer.

Two of the 4 designs which are to appear in the Royal Mail miniature sheet to be issued on 21 April 2016 to commemorate the 90th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II have been revealed by a seller on the Internet auction site, E Bay.
The designs are incorporated in a miniature sheet similar to that issued in 2000 to commemorate the 100th Birthday of the late Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother - just as that miniature sheet depicted 4 generations of the Royal Family - The Queen Mother, The Queen, The Prince Of Wales and Prince William - so too does this latest sheet but this time depicting The Queen, The Prince Of Wales, The Duke Of Cambridge and Prince George. The photograph used for the design, taken at the end of 2015, required the four members of the Royal Family to be gathered together for the occasion.
The designs featuring The Queen and her immediate heir, Prince Charles, are also issued in self-adhesive format in a counter booklet of 6 x 1st stamps which also contains 4 purple Machin Head definitives (see below). Rating:- *****. See also Blog 729.

The Queen Mother's birthday miniature sheet of 2000:-

Bounty Post, the postal service of Pitcairn Islands, will issue 4 stamps on 19 April 2016 to commemorate the 90th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. This is another set of well chosen Hat-head-and-shoulders photographs of The Queen and was designed by Denise Durkin and lithographed by Southern Colour Print, perforated 14.5. Rating:- *****.

Fiji Post has released a new surcharge - either at the beginning of 2016 or end of 2015. The surcharge is of 20c on the former 63c definitive stamp which depicts the Fiji Goshawk. The surcharge takes the form of 20c and XXX with a space between the value and obliteration but there is an error, shown below, in which there is no space between the value and the XXX. Rating:- *****.

Back to Royal Mail:- three tedious "Collectors strips" (Machin Head, Union Jack and Heraldic lion) were issued at the 87th Scottish Congress held in Perth for just days on 15 and 16 April 2016. The items had the added inscription "87th Scottish/Congress 2016" and were dispensed by kiosks A011 and A012. Clearly their extremely limited availability both in time and location means that they should be considered more as philatelic souvenirs than as postage stamps. Rating:- 0.

Jersey Post also packed off their kiosk JE01 to Perth and this dispensed "Collectors strips" of Jersey Flag and Jersey Crest labels with the additional inscription "87th Scottish/Congress 2016 " on 15 and 16 April 2016. These items have also been produced from back office kiosk B002 (situated in England) and put on sale by the Jersey Philatelic Bureau. Rating:- 0.

Examples of Back office labels:-

Jersey Post's stamp production never let's up - in Blog 732 I mentioned the stamps and miniature sheet to be issued by Jersey Post to commemorate the Centenary of Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity to be released for the World Stamp Show New York 2016. There is an additional £2 miniature sheet to accompany this set which can not be considered to be a very appealing item. Rating:- 0.
